BaksheeshBoy: interactive begging robot, collaboration with Moritz Schmidt for uiui, Stuttgart/Madrid, 2009; based on our observations of beggars in Cairo and Rome we developed BaksheeshBoy. Being confronted with beggars people run a programme of defense. We imagine the baggar might be part of a criminal system, not worth to be supported with our money. Replacing the human beggar by a machine with a 'corporate look', we tried to insert a particular friction into the perception of one and another within the public space. BaksheeshBoy had its first mission during Creative Weekend in Madrid 2009. Find more on www.uiui.eu
